defunct email: booking@westvillepub.com

Please do not call the pub as it will get you nowhere. The bartender, he just don't care about art, he's busy.

· We are a smoke-free pub; there is a smoking area on the covered patio outside in the back.

· Promotion:

We advertise all performances in The Mountain Express, The Asheville Citizen Times and certain shows on WNCW public radio (25 radio spots in the 5 weekdays preceding most shows for $45)

· If you are booked at the pub, you should contact the above outlets stating so. For press coverage you will need a CD and a glossy photo. There is nothing like face-to-face contact to increase your chance of being featured in these outlets. To increase the number of folks who come out for your show it is a good idea to place posters around the area. Do not put posters on telephone poles as Asheville has an enforced ordinance against this (you can be fined up to $100/day for each poster violation). Be sure send 4-6 posters to the Pub.

· You may contact The Mountain Express at 828-251-1331 or by email (see below) as far ahead as possible and they may feature your gig or write a small article in "Smart Bets." In order to be featured Mountain Express will need a CD and a glossy photo. You can send {} a press kit {} to:

Steve Shanafelt, Mountain Express, 2 Wall St.,
Asheville, NC 28801; e-mail is sshanafelt@mtnx.com

· WNCW has on air interviews and play time during the week and is a great
way to get your name out. Crystal Scruggs at crystal@wncw.org is the WNCW
contact. If WNCW plays your music you only need to send them a press kit. If
not, please send them a CD. Their address is:

PO Box 804, Spindale, NC
28160, attn: Kate.
Web address: www.wncw.org .
Phone: 828-287-8000.

· Contact Tony Kiss at The Asheville Citizen Times,
14 O'Henry Ave.
Asheville, NC 28801
Phone: 828-232-2855;
email: tkiss@citizen-times.com
for a possible feature. Be sure to send him a glossy photo and CD as well.

· We also post our calendar with various other local publications and websites as well as on our own calendar and website. We always place your posters in our windows. Please send them 2 to 4 weeks ahead.

If you have a website and would like us to link to it, please provide our web guy, Derrick, with the URL. He will include the link in our monthly Music Calendar and on our home page, if appropriate. It's a very good idea to include "Westville Pub somewhere in your email's subject, as Derrick gets a lot of spam from this very public email link. Click here to email him.

We are interesting in linking to mp3 files, so that potential listeners can check you out before your show. If that's appealing to you, email Derrick and he can help set things up. Again, please be sure to include the words "Westville Pub" in the email subject line, so he doesn't dump your email with all the spam.

Sound:

· We have a house PA with 12 inputs. We also have an upright piano. help get you up and running with the sound system and to provide an occasional tweaking throughout the night. If you need constant attention with the board, you will have to provide a person for that. Please make us aware of any special sound needs you have as early as possible.

· Sound can be tricky in our place. Our patrons are music lovers but struggle with excessive volume, sometimes even leaving after paying the cover. Please make every effort to keep down the noise level. will insist that you acknowledge and respect our judgment and take immediate measures to remedy the problem. We reserve the right to stop a show and withhold payment to non-compliant acts..

Cover Charge:

· We reserve the right to charge whatever we feel is appropriate for your band at the door. We base this on how well you are known and the amount of following you have. We seldom charge a cover on Thursdays. On Saturday the cover is usually $4 to $6. We keep the cover low because we are a community pub and do not want to become exclusive to our usual patrons.

Food/Drink Allowance

· We offer a band food/drink allowance of $15 per person or $50 maximum if your band is 4 or more. The food/drink allowance does NOT include liquor. It only covers food, beer and wine. Sorry. This allowance also does not include tips. Please take care of your servers. We serve food until 11:00pm on weekdays and 1:00am on weekends. Be sure you get your food order in at least 30 minutes prior to the cutoff if you'd like it after your performance.

· North Carolina law requires that no alcohol can be purchased after 2 am.
We will sell beer or wine to go, but it must be bought and in your car by 2 am. Also NC law requires a valid driver's license in order to verify you are over 21. If you look young bring your driver's license. NC law also forbids us to serve alcohol to anyone drunk; if our bartenders decide to stop serving you, we stand behind them.
